IMPERFECT - ONYX Cup
A beautiful vessel that can be used in a multitude of ways: bud vases for an intimate tablescape, tealight holders that emit a warm glow, pen pots for a chic addition to your desk or cups for fresh mint tea.
Please note, due to the multi-tonal nature of onyx blocks, each cup may contain more than just the listed colour. The listed colour indicates the majority colour of the cup.
Onyx is food safe and does not emit any toxins however please take care of staining from red wine and so on. We recommend hand washing all onyx pieces.
IMPERFECTIONS: The majority of these cups are in perfect condition but are either slightly taller or shorter than the norm (we're talking less than half a cm). There is a possibility of very small, light scratches but nothing super visible.
Photos represent a perfect version of this item. Please expect differences from what is shown.
All of our handcrafted accessories are carefully inspected, and only pieces that meet our highest standards are classified as first quality. An item is considered “IMPERFECT” when there is a minor flaw in the finish, such as a surface-level scratch or a more noticeable-than-usual variation in the stone’s colour.
In the case of our chess sets, this could also include damage to the packaging (such as a scuff on the velvet or a tear in the label) or slight excess glue between the inlaid marble and onyx squares. These imperfections are purely cosmetic — the item remains structurally sound, fully functional, and suitable for use.
Please note that “IMPERFECT” items are final sale and cannot be returned.
Chess Sets can be delivered but due to the fragile nature of our bowls, cups and coasters - these are for collection only. Collection is from Ladbroke Grove or Holland Park and must be arranged in advance. All collections must be made by 15th July.
These items are ready to ship. Each piece is made by hand from natural materials so please expect variations.
As Made-to-Order and Bespoke items are especially commissioned for you, we cannot accept returns due to a change of mind. We encourage all customers to order samples prior to ordering any Made to Order and Bespoke products to ensure the finish is as desired.
Made-to-order and bespoke orders can be cancelled or changed up to 24 hours after placing them. Beyond 24 hours, bespoke orders cannot be cancelled and for made-to-order pieces, a 50% cancellation fee will apply. Please note, should you need to make any changes or cancel your order, this needs to be done by contacting us via email.

Onyx is food safe and does not emit any toxins however please take care of staining from red wine and so on. We recommend hand washing all onyx pieces using an acid-free detergent.
Please use an acid-free marble cleaner for the chess sets.
As Travertine & Marble are natural stones, each piece will vary slightly in colour and finish and may contain markings, small holes, pits, and fissures all of which are natural characteristics of the stone. Because our Marble and Travertine isn’t manufactured, it is impossible to the stone or to exactly match one piece to another as no two stones are the same. It is stones inherent natural beauty that makes each piece and each of our Atelier278 designs so special.
Marble and Travertine are both naturally porous stones. Whilst care should be taken to ensure the longevity of your Atelier278 modern collectable, it has been crafted to be used and enjoyed. To maintain the beauty of your new piece for as long as possible we would recommend using placemats and coasters for cups, plates, and dishes to avoid water rings and heat marks.
Scratches and stains are inevitable, but care should be taken to mop up any liquid and food spillages as soon as possible. Oils such as candle wax and acidic liquids such as vinegar, wine and lemon juice can be especially damaging but fear not, overtime any marks will age gracefully adding to your pieces unique character and charm. To clean, wipe the surface with a soft damp cloth and follow with a little warm water or a non-abrasive light neutral detergent before wiping dry with a lint-free cloth. Applying a natural marble wax across the entire surface of your piece can add a little extra protection. Extra caution should be taken to avoid using coarse cleaning materials such as scouring pads and acidic or abrasive cleaners.
We recommend re-sealing your table every 6-12 months using Lithofin Stain Stop. Atelier278 Ltd is not liable for any damage caused by mistreatment.
