01. Mixed Marbles

For years, interiors have championed matching everything. The most interesting spaces rarely do.

There's something playful about pairing different stones together — the warmth of travertine against the drama of Rosso Levanto, or the quiet softness of Arabescato Corchia alongside rich Verde Alpi. The contrast allows each material to shine in a way it couldn't alone.

And whilst it feels contemporary, it's anything but new. Mixed marbles have appeared throughout classical architecture for centuries, from Roman villas to Renaissance palazzos, where different stones were deliberately combined to create rhythm, hierarchy and visual delight.

We're looking forward to exploring this dialogue in future Atelier278 pieces.

02. Cremer, London

More than a café, Cremer feels like a considered home. Designed by Oscar Piccolo and Gennaro Leone (Spazio Leone), the project is a celebration of collaboration, where bespoke joinery, vintage furniture, contemporary art and handcrafted textiles come together with effortless balance.

A painting by Nick Jensen and handwoven silk curtains by Yumo Yuan bring warmth, texture and depth to the space. Every element feels purposeful, creating an interior that is collected rather than decorated and a place designed to encourage people to linger, gather and spend time together.

03. Subscription, Daunt Books

One of the most thoughtful gifts I've come across. Rather than choosing a single book, you tell the Daunt Books team a little about the recipient, the books they've loved, the authors they return to and the stories they're drawn to.From there, a bookseller curates a beautifully wrapped title each month, creating a year of reading that's entirely personal. In a world of algorithms, there's something wonderfully romantic about recommendations made by people.
